Nesting

For 20 weeks I've been pretty much in denial that we are having a second child.  I'm terrified of how we will adjust and how Abby will adjust.  She is THE priority in our life and we don't want her to feel short changed.  I'm panicked about all the work that we need to do in and out of our house because in my mind two kids means we will be in poverty.  Sure we have lived her for four years but suddenly it feels like everything needs to be done right NOW.  I've been purging this house room by room and in an effort to make this pregnancy real to me a few weeks ago I painted the nursery and Tim helped move all the furniture in.  Do you think Abby's baby brother/sister will sleep well in this little room?

Makes me smile to open the door and see all these baby things that were Abby's.

Yet I feel guilty about how much cuter this room looks with this paint color then the green we chose for her.

Can't imagine how many hours I'll be spending in this little nook. Yep that's the Boppy all clean and ready to go.

When she wakes up from her nap I hope to get some pictures of her big girl room.  Side note -I knew she was tired why does she fight me:)??

Did you miss us??

We did it!!!  This is one Abby's current favorite phrases.  Tim is officially a college graduate and has stopped taking our computer hostage.  I don't even know where to start so today I just want to record some of favorite things Abby says right now before they become lost in our foggy memories.

She is trying really hard to sing twinkle twinkle and has the rhythm but maybe 15% of the words and she is getting there with the alphabet song and old mcdonald.  Every day there is something new she is saying that takes us by surprise.  Yesterday was all aboard, wonder what today will bring.  What's your favorite phrase your little is stuck on right now?

Easter Art Project

Abby loves to finger paint, but there are only so many paintings a mama can hang, frame or store away as memories. With Easter approaching, I had a great idea how to reuse some of her paintings. We would cut them into Easter eggs and hide them in some grass. She loved using the glue stick and putting them all together.

Pride

Today we had arts and crafts time in the morning. We made a family of snow people out of cotton balls. It was one of only 3 crafts I can think of that she has been really proud of it. As soon as Daddy woke up she showed him and kept yelling "snow" and "mine". She just kept walking around with it in her hands, looking at it and saying "cute", "mine", "snow". It took us along time because she was so interested in sticking all the cotton balls. Great activity for an almost 2 year old.

She didn't want to take a picture with the craft but instead sat on this chair and kept saying cheese until I took her picture.

Hanging mittens

Last week was my first week with more hours at home. I was prepared with 2 craft projects for Miss Abigail. I'm trying to keep as close to Lori's schedule as possible so we don't just lay around the house, as I would probably prefer. So I'm going to do my best to have art or craft time when I'm home on Thursdays.

The craft project she was really into it is a special surprise for some loved ones in her life so that post will have to wait. But here is the other craft from last week, hanging mittens. Abby Sad

I think I inadvertently taught her to do this, but I LOVE it. When she doesn't get her way some times, she slumps her shoulders and walks sadly away. Then she sits on a chair and just makes this pout face and we laugh and laugh. I prefer it to the tantrums.

Sorry you're sad Abby but I love this cute little face.

Snow Day

January 13th, 2012. First snow of the season in West Allis. Abby kept shouting "snow, snow" all morning while we were eating breakfast. On the way home from work the night before, I saw a girl her age playing with her sand toys in the snow. I couldn't wait to take her out the next morning.

We ate breakfast. Then I asked "Abby do you want to got outside and play with snow?". Her eyes light up and she shouted "Snow snow. Le's go, le's go". So we bundled her up and she was so excited.









She took some tentative steps. She refused to wear her mittens.

She stood for a photo op.

Then she started to freak out. "Cold, cold, cold". "door, door". Abby's first snow day, lasted about two minutes. But doesn't she look cute in Mya's old snowsuit?
